This side-event, organized by France, the CCAC and the Cool Coalition at COP26, highlighted the climate impacts on cities associated with the growing need for cooling, due both to the refrigerants used and to the energy consumption associated with the use of equipment. It showcased French leadership on cooling action around the world and new commitments to action.

During a round table discussion, French local authorities and international experts shared the benefits of comprehensive approaches to sustainable cooling in cities, including their knowledge and experiences in reducing cooling needs through urban form, nature-based solutions, passive buildings and increased energy efficiency.

At this COP26 event, France launched a Leadership guide on on Efficient, Climate-Friendly Cooling. You can get the brief here.
