19nov09:0010:00Efficient Cooling and Ventilation for Comfort and Decarbonization

Event Details

Background

This session will examine strategies to deliver cooling and comfort amid growing demand, while reducing environmental impact. Presentations will highlight policy developments from emerging economies, energy-efficient technologies such as inverter air conditioners and energy recovery ventilators that help prevent excessive cooling, and the role of Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) in advancing sustainable cooling.

A high-level panel featuring government representatives, the United for Efficiency (U4E) initiative, the International Energy Agency (IEA), and Daikin Industries will discuss practical approaches to harmonizing standards across regions and accelerating the adoption of lower climate impact solutions consistent with the Global Cooling Pledge.

Objectives

  • Highlight practical strategies to meet rising cooling demand while reducing environmental impact and energy consumption.

  • Showcase policy developments from emerging economies and present innovative technologies such as inverter ACs and energy recovery ventilators to improve efficiency and prevent excessive cooling.

  • Emphasize the importance of MEPS and harmonized regional standards in advancing sustainable cooling solutions.

  • Identify actionable steps to accelerate adoption of low-climate-impact cooling technologies aligned with the Global Cooling Pledge.
