Under the framework of the Cool Coalition, UNEP in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) supported the Department of Climate Change of the General Directorate of Policy and Strategy and the General Directorate of Environmental Protection (EPA) of the Ministry of Environment of Cambodia to develop the National Cooling Action Plan (NCAP). Cambodia is one of the first country to leverage the Cool Coalition NCAP methodology to develop their NCAP.

The National launch event will bring together stakeholders from government, private sector and civil society to present Cambodia’s NCAP. This plan, developed with a comprehensive approach to cooling, aims to contribute in realizing Cambodia’s long-term development vision in building a sustainable, green, clean, and low-carbon society through the integration of climate-friendly and energy-efficient cooling solutions. The NCAP is the first national strategic plan to establish an overarching national framework for inter-sectoral collaboration and multi-stakeholder participation on sustainable cooling that contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris climate agreement, and the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. Cambodia’s leadership will serve as a model of action for other countries in the region.

Objective: The event will convene key national stakeholders from Ministry of Environment, other line ministries, development partners, industry, academia and civil society organizations to celebrate the launch of this landmark document and:

· Presenting the key insights and recommendations of Cambodia’s National Cooling Action Plan

· Brainstorm and exchange the NCAP implementation strategies and share global best practices

· Promote collaboration and facilitate synergies among partners for effective implementation

The event will take place on Thursday the 9th of February, at 9 am (ICT) for the Launch of Cambodia’s National Cooling Action Plan.
