Consumer Study on the Effects of the Presence & Location of the Energy Label in Online Shopping Environments in Europe
This study investigates how the presence and position of energy labels in online retail environments affect consumer decisions. Conducted in four European countries, it tests label visibility on product pages, baskets, price-comparison sites, and examines whether placement near product price or in shopping baskets increases selections of energy-efficient appliances. Findings show that while exact label position often has limited effect, inclusion of labels in shopping baskets and on comparison sites significantly boosts energy-efficient choices.
